My Stubborn Weight Loss Strategies

Over the last 12 years I have seen a lot of diets and fads come and go, although to be honest I have paid little attention to any of them for the past 8.

I consider myself very lucky that I woke up and realised that most of it is BS and that nature has the answer, relatively early in my career.

That’s what originally lead me to ‘clean eating’, a term that is now rather trendy and has taken on all sorts of guises, tweaks and turns.

To me, eating clean means eating a diet based on:

  • Plant based diet with added
  • Meat,
  • Fish,
  • Fruits,
  • Nuts and Seeds
  • Possibly legumes if you are able to tolerate them (i.e. they don’t make you blow off ;0)

Whilst eliminating the major foods known to irritate the gut, screw up the hormones and cause inflammation:

  • Wheat
  • Processed foods
  • Sugar
  • Caffeine
  • And most Dairy.

This is where I start all of my Slim From Within clients, with these rules and the recipes from my 30 Days Of Health Cookbook.

I just get them to simply start enjoying real life force foods as nature intended.

But for some it isn’t enough, and we need to implement different nutrition strategies.

Now the fun begins!

My go to’s are…

Macro intervention – usually increasing protein and decreasing carbs – as a general rule aim for over 100gms a day of net protein and under 100gms a day net carbs.

Calorie intervention – are they eating too much or enough (usually it’s not enough!)

Next would be a high fat, moderate protein, low carb as in a ketogenic diet – this works a treat for those who have been over weight for a long time and are likely to have secondary issues such as hormone imbalances or metabolic syndrome.

Another strategy I use is the Autoimmune Paleo Diet – this is quite a strict anti-inflammatory diet that a nutritionist friend of mine put me on to. Not only can it help stubborn fat loss, it is great for arthritis, fibromyalgia, thyroid and other autoimmune issues.

In fact I go in all sorts of directions until we get to the answer, one size does not fit all, but there is always an answer out there somewhere.

You just have to learn to listen to your body rather than the advertisements!
