We love our NutriBullets at BABEs. It’s perfect for those who struggle with breakfast or when you have had it with eggs! But is your Nutri Bullet making you fat?
You need to be careful. The temptation is to load them with fruit, which is the best way to raise your blood sugar and get your body STORING fat.
Stick to veggies with just a handful of berries (frozen are cheaper and just as good) or an apple or carrot for sweetening.
Ideally you want a scoop of protein in there too, especially if you are using it at breakfast – don’t forget protein based breakfasts are a MUST for kick starting your metabolism.
I would suggest mixing it up so that you aren’t having a NutriBullet everyday.
The Thermic Effect of Food is also very important when it comes to your metabolism. (In simple terms this means the amount of energy your body uses to breakdown, digest and distribute your food).
A common used estimate is that it is around 10% of your daily energy intake – although it depends what you are eating (protein being the hardest, which can take between 20-35% of the energy consumed to breakdown – which is why the BABES have it as part of every meal and snack).
So if you are using a NutriBullet to start the break down of your nutrients every day then you are missing out on some of the action!

So the rule is eat your fruit, juice your veggies, add in protein where possible and don’t forget to EAT breakfast some days too!

2 handfuls of frozen berries
250 ml almond milk – we like Rude Health or homemade
3 tablespoons of gluten-free oats
1 tablespoon of chia seeds

Stick in the Nutribullet or high-speed blender and blast until smooth.
